How to use these UK biodiversity and wildlife resources

Use official datasets and national reports when you need evidence. Use botanical organisations for plant identification. Choose specialist conservation groups for practical guidance about bees, butterflies and other wildlife. For a local project, also check your council, landowner and environmental records centre.

Plant responsibly: do not scatter seed on land you do not own or manage without permission. Check whether the species and planting method suit the site, avoid protected or sensitive habitats, and follow local guidance. No source can guarantee germination, establishment or a particular ecological result.
